This past Wednesday, August 14th, the Yellow Jacket Flying Club (YJFC) hosted a fantastic bonfire event at the West Village fire pits as part of the Week of Welcome festivities. The event was a perfect blend of fun and networking, offering new students a warm introduction to the YJFC community.
What Went Down:
- A Recruitment Event with a Twist: Designed to recruit new members, the bonfire event featured a cozy setup where attendees could enjoy classic bonfire treats and engage in meaningful conversations about the club. The ambiance was perfect for fostering new friendships and sharing the club's passion for aviation.
- S'mores Galore: No bonfire is complete without s'mores! Attendees gathered around the fire, roasting marshmallows and crafting the perfect s'mores while chatting about their flying experiences, aspirations, and everything the YJFC has to offer.
- Casual Chats About the Club: John Zeveny, one of our enthusiastic leaders, took the helm in guiding the discussions, sharing insights about the club's mission, and outlining exciting upcoming events. His approachable style made new students feel welcomed and encouraged them to learn more about what being a YJFC member entails.
- Volunteer Participation: A big shout-out to all the volunteers who helped make the event a success! Not only did they contribute to a memorable evening, but their participation also earned them credit to get off the club's waitlist—a win-win!
