Peter Van Norde

Peter Van Norde was a Tech Graduate in Aerospace Engineering (AE ’43). In 1999, he and his family generously donated a Cessna 310 to the club. The logistics of having a twin engine aircraft in the club did not work out, so with the Van Norde family’s blessing, the aircraft was sold and the proceeds placed into an endowment fund.

This fund allows the YJFC to give $1,000 each year to a deserving Georgia Tech student for use toward a private pilot license. The amount is credited to the recipient’s YJFC account for post-solo time placed on club aircraft. The award may only be used for primary training up until the time the recipient attains their private pilot’s certificate.
