Here are the most frequently asked questions that we get with regards to costs, finances, and financial aid
I need to take a break next semester from flying. Do I have to pay Flight Fees next semester?
No. You pay flight fees for the semesters in which you fly with us. If you aren’t flying with us, then you don’t pay flight fees.
What if I go away for a semester or two on internship? Do I have to pay Flight Fees while I’m gone?
No. You pay flight fees for the semesters in which you fly with us. If you aren’t flying with us, then you don’t pay flight fees.
How do I pay my instructor?
For the time spent instructing you, most instructors accept all electronic forms of payment, as well as checks. All payments are made directly out to them.
How do I pay for the airplane rental?
We use an online scheduling service, ScheduleMaster, that handles airplane scheduling and billing. At the end of your flight, it will bill you based on how long you operated the airplane’s engine. It accepts all major forms of credit and debit cards.
How do payments work?
As described in the previous page, there are two types of costs: time-dependent and pay-as-you-go costs. The Member Dues and Flight Fees are the only time-dependent costs. The other costs are all pay-as-you-go, so there’s no up-front payment for flight training. This is particularly advantageous for budgeting and planning your finances.
I can’t commit to flight training yet, but I’d like to join. What costs would I have?
We’re glad to have you join us for the ride! To join the YJFC, the only costs you would have are semesterly Member Dues. These dues help us pay for the exciting events that we host for you.
If you would like to start flight training at a later date, all you have to do is reply to an email you should have received from the Chief Flight Instructor with instructions on how to get started.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) through our Square Store and our airplane scheduling service, ScheduleMaster.
